Is DayOne no longer supported?

I’m a Premium user and have been for years, and 10 days ago I sent in two requests for support when the app crashed and lost my entries. All I received back were auto-emails stating that support was only for Premium members. I responded to each of those that I was a Premium member and…still nothing 10 days later.

I love DayOne but if there’s no support for crashes that cause entries to disappear, I need to look for another solution. With products like Diarly out there hot on the heels of DayOne, support for Premium members should be a no-brainer…

Hello @christopherpnmaselli. We are very sorry for the delay. Since the holiday, we have had an above average amount of support requests. We are working on them as quickly as possible.

All I received back were auto-emails stating that support was only for Premium members.

It is possible your message came from an email address that is not associated with a Day One account. If you reply to the automatic response, it will be added to our queue.

In the meantime, can you tell me more about what happened? Responses to the following questions will provide us with some information to best assist you. You do not need to respond with any personal/private information like user ID.

    1. When did you first download Day One?
    2. Did you sign in to a Day One Sync account in the app settings previously?
    3. When was the last time you saw the entries?
    4. Besides the crash, has anything happened to the device or to Day One since then?

The following guide has all recovery options possible for Day One journal data. Have you tried any of these options already? https://dayoneapp.com/guides/data-loss-and-recovery-options/

    Appreciate the response.

    1. First downloaded DayOne years ago. I’ve been a Premium member for years.
    2. Yes, I’m always signed in, and use it daily, multiple times as I have multiple journals.
    3. The last time I saw the entries was on January 1 and January 2. On both occasions, the app crashed and then lost the last 24 hours of entries.
    4. No other changes to my device or Day One as far as I know.
    5. Yes, I’ve tried all the recovery options before contacting support.

Thanks, @christopherpnmaselli. To rule out any other explanations, have you tried the following?

On which platform/device were you writing when the app crashed and content lost?

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes, did both. Using MacBook Pro M3 with the latest MacOS and current DayOne version on Jan 1 and Jan 2.

I reached out to via email to continue investigating.

James, just sent you another email. It just happened again. App crashed and upon reopen, it was like I just installed it for the first time. Lost another 24 hours worth of entries.

Hi Chris, did you ever get to the bottom of this? I’d absolutely hate to lose all my entries. Years of entries wiped away in a blink. How’s progress with your issue and have they been able to salvage your lose data?
