iOS app frozen. iPhone 14 Pro Max. iOS 18.5
-
hi I’ve been using day one fir years and value it a lot. This is the first time I’ve had a problem. I’ve done the normal steps to fix – I checked in App Store and day one is not listed for an update.
I have done a hard restart on my iPhone.
iOS is up to date.
Of course I have quit and restarted day one.
Yesterday I searched for a location and an entry came up in 2017. I added a photo then scrolled to the next day. I left it there.
The app is now frozen in that day in 2017. I’ve no idea how to get out of this fix.
each time it restarts it goes to the same page and no buttons are responsive. Either in upright or landscape mode.
please help. -
It growing caution to the wind, I removed the app and reinstalled. It seems ok now. Disconcertingly I could not login with my Apple ID without going through the new user process. Bit disconcerting. But it seems to have worked.

thanks.
It was solved by removing and reinstalling your app.It was a bit disconcerting, though, when using an Apple ID, to seem to be creating a fresh new Day One account. I used my Apple ID to sign in, as previously.
The app first opened with just one entry “Welcome to Day One”. As you can imagine it was rather scary to imagine all my entries had vanished. But, not long after, the data began to sync.
phew.
it would be less scary for your customers to see a “sign in with Apple ID” option, rather than to appear to have just one option – make a new account. -
@neilbarstow Thanks for the update — I’m glad to hear your entries eventually synced and everything is back in place.
Just to clarify, you should see an “I have an account” option when signing in after reinstalling the app. Here’s a screenshot of what that screen looks like for reference:
