Input delay and unresponsiveness when editing a note in another window

When I create a new note within the DayOne application, I experience no lag. When I go to edit a note, it opens in a new window (wish it did not!) and I experience a huge lag. This gets worse if I try using other keyboards (I’ll write in English and Japanese).

I’m using Mac if it helps. Been using Day One for years so would like to stick with it!

I’ve just discovered that if I close the main window, and leave only the editor note open, the lag disappears entirely. It really seems that having the main app open in the background, and another note being edited, I experience the lag.

Is there a way to keep the notes only within the app and not another window?

Definitely narrowed this down to having the main window and the editor window open at the same time. When editing, both screens will freeze up, input lag, etc. Almost like the live preview on the main app is slowing down the editor. Closing the main screen is fixing this for me. Weird though.

Hello @joehoneywood! Thanks for posting (and the follow-up comments).

When I go to edit a note, it opens in a new window (wish it did not!)

When editing a note, is it being opened from the Calendar/Today view? If you use the Timeline view, the entry opens within the main app window. Would that work for your journaling routine?
