Indexing stuck?

    I use DayOne app on my iPhone. I recently tried to search for some text that I knew was in there, but just got zero results. Tried many search terms (including stuff i could see right in front of me) and kept getting no results. So I asked to reindex as described here: https://dayoneapp.com/guides/troubleshooting/what-does-rebuild-index-do-ios-only/

    It’s been about two hours now, and DayOne still has a black square and says “Indexing…” so I don’t know if it’s stuck or it really takes two hours plus to index? I’ve been using DayOne for 10 years, but my entries are pretty short and simple, I can’t believe there’s really that much text…

    What should I do?

    It’s been a little over 3 hours now, seems inconceivable that indexing really takes this long (I don’t write like Tolstoy). I’ll probably let it go for another hour and then try restarting the app and see what happens… Any advice?

    Restarting didn’t help. I noticed that Day One on my iPad was working fine (and searching fine). So I completely deleted the app from my iPhone, then loaded it in again, and set up the account and syncing – took about 15 minutes maybe. Now searching is fine.

    Indexing shouldn’t take as long as it did for you. Should be pretty fast. I am happy to hear deleting and reinstalling the app helped.

    If you run into this again please do let us know. I currently cannot reproduce this on my end.
