Image edit option (e.g. free transformation size, left/right align)

I’ve been a Day One user for almost 10 years.

I wish the ability to add an image-Edit would give me more options.

When I put an image in the body paragraph, Day One edit tool automatically resizes the photo. We barely have the option to customize image size. It’s always either we can add a BIG-GIANT-GRAND-PHOTO or add one or more photos to fit in the box.

I would recommend that we have a few more editing options when putting images into the body, as we do in Word.

Thanks for your feedback! We have received other requests for this and we’d be happy to add your vote.

I second this. I would like to be able edit inline, if not for anything but to resize.

The Day One help docs seem to imply that you can edit an image, but darned if I can figure out how that works. I’m not seeing the edit options or tools to allow that. Can anyone please clarify if this is actually possible?

You can resize images in Day One by following these steps:

    1. Open the Day One app on your device.
    2. Navigate to the entry where the image is located.
    3. Tap on the image to select it.
    4. Once the image is selected, you should see an option to resize it. On iOS and macOS, you can use the Media Picker to access additional details and tools, including resizing options.
    5. After selecting the resize option, you can adjust the dimensions of the image as needed.

Hi @cromagnonman. Resizing the images is not currently supported in Day One. Would you mind sharing the URL where you found that information? We’d love to correct any inaccuracies. Thanks!

I would like to add my vote to this issue. It would be really nice to place images inline with our journals, making it look more “scrapbook-y” and intentional. I like how DayOne includes the first image in an entry in the list view, and something like that in the entry view would be greatly appreciated! Notion does a good job with their image entry and editing. Even WordPress’s built-in image editor would be welcome.

Your feedback has been noted @chrisweiser! I can see how that would be a lovely way to customize your entries

This would be particularly useful when preparing a printed book.
Until now I do not print books as images are not manageable, some taking a full page for nothing. I get a 1.000+ pages book, this is not affordable.

  • We’ll pass this along.
