I would love to see space between paragraph being default/option
-
I have been loving this app for journaling! It’s great, and I love the Markdown editing tool. One thing I would love to see is that there should be a default, additional space between paragraph. Currently, if I press
enterto return to a next paragraph, the space between lines within paragraph and the space between lines between two paragraphs are identical. I think it would look better and has better user experience if there is noticeable space between paragraph without having to hitentertwice and intentionally leave one blank line between paragraphs. You know what’s funny? The text editing for this feedback form actually does EXACTLY what I want!!! It creates a new block! If this feature already exists, please let me know how to toggle it on on Day-One since it’s definitely not a default option. Thanks!

Hello there,
Thanks for reaching out to us. I’m happy to hear you’re loving the app so far!
Currently, you should be able to add two returns to add a space between paragraphs.
I’d be happy to submit a feature request on your behalf for future consideration.

100%
Having some spacing between paragraphs would be super helpful for visually breaking up content. Doing two returns is a throwback to the typewriter era (and semantically problematic).
Please consider!

I’m going to add a vote, and I’m also going to add a vote that line spacing within a paragraph should be adjustable as should vertical spacing between paragraphs.

Got it @johnlaudun! I can also see how that would be nice. I know I sometimes like a bit more space between lines than is default myself. I’ve shared your words with the team

Yes the space after would be great. I actually bought his app by accident in a way but now I love it! I did cancel my trial on my desktop but it still took my payment for the year, I think because I hadn’t opted out on my phone app. Tsk, tsk – very cheeky / greedy business practices (if I’m right) but in the end I use it everyday so am happy. Having to use a double return is annoying though so please sort this if possible as it’s a great app!

I tested this app out a couple of years ago, and instantly loved it, so I subscribed. I actually LIKE apps that limit your choices and stick to the core functionality. BUT in this case I would REALLY like space after paragraphs, either set by Day One, or the ability to customize in settings. Pretty please?

@robertdircks that makes a lot of sense, and has been added to the ideas board for consideration :)

I always come back to this request once in a while for months to see if there’s any update—basically anytime I open Day One, start writing, and get annoyed by the double return thing.
It’s a small thing, but I guarantee the requested feature’ll make my satisfaction from using this app 100x higher. It also doesn’t seem like a very difficult thing to implement, but I could be way off. Regardless, I want to make sure y’all know this feature will be really really helpful. (Just like this reply textbox!!! How nice it is that it adds space between paragraphs automatically. How ironic!)
Pretty PLEASE!!! Thank you!!!

Please add my upvote. Hitting return twice is visually unappealing and creates to much white space.
Please add a space, similar to how it works within this feedback form.

Hi there, @almoststellar922ed670b0! I’ve added your vote to the feature request for paragraph spacing customization. Thank you for your feedback!

Hi there, @folkfamily9! Thanks for stopping by! I did confirm that this feature request is still in the system. The team will take this into consideration as they plan future app improvements.

Took me ages moving from typewriters to computers to unlearn double spaces after a period. Techies laughed at my antiquated ways.
And, yet, I’m supposed to double break after a paragraph to add space. Even these comments add space between paragraphs.
Look at how Bear has provided formatting options for fonts and paragraphs. Add them to Day One.
P.S. – Okay, a wee bit of sarcasm, but please!
