How hard it is to add custom fonts in MacOS?

This has been a requested feature from more than two years now with several posts already written on this (post1, post2). A large number of users have already expressed interest and have been requesting this feature on multiple forums. Every time someone posts an issue or comment on this, DayOne team responds with “I have added a vote for this on your behalf.” What is happening to all these votes?
Why is DayOne is not interested in doing this? There are several long term customers who have been paying for this app. DayOne team, could you please update the status on this?
