How about showing where searched text is, within your note?

Most apps or programs that I use, seem to show where in my text a searched word or phrase is……usually by highlighting the text within the page and then allowing me to scroll up or down to find more of the same phrase. This functionality can be done in most word processor apps as well as any simple browser (by clicking “FIND TEXT”. please consider adding this functionality to your app. Many of my notes are quite long and when I search for a word or phrase, I then must skim or read the entire note to try and find the text I am looking for. A simple highlight of the text and arrows to scroll forward or backward would be very helpful. Thank you.

  • I have added your suggestion to our feature requests. Thank you for taking the time to share it with us :-)

I’ll add a vote for this. It would be a super helpful feature, especially in long entries. It’s very hard to find one word!

  • @straightlinesgirl I’ll forward your vote over to the team for this!

  • It’s not a full solution, but if you happen to be using the Day One Mac app or Day One in the browser (at https://dayone.me), both of those platforms support searching and highlighting text within an individual entry.

    • On Mac: Open an entry, click inside the entry text area, then press “Command+F” to bring up the search field.
    • In Browser: Open an entry, then use “Command+F” (on Mac) or “Ctrl+F” (on Windows) to bring up the browser’s “Find” feature.

We don’t currently have a way to find text within an individual entry on iOS or Android, but we’ve noted the interest.
