“Highlight” not in macOS format menu and/or no keyboard shortcut available
-
I have a very simple feature request with a secondary request that can optionally ride along with it…
Can we have the “Highlight” option be added to the menus in Edit -> Format?
This would allow me to set up a keyboard shortcut for this formatting option and not have to flip over to the mouse every few moments as I’m reading and digesting something I’ve written.
Optionally, I’d love to see a keyboard shortcut actually implemented for the Highlight format so that it could be used consistently across macOS and iPadOS.
Hopefully this is such a small “obvious” change that requires very little development effort that it could be a possibility to be implemented. This has bothered me for years, but I’ve never taken the time to reach out, now is that time.
Thank you all for the hard work!

Did you know that you can do it with Markdown while you are typing?
If you type == either side of the text you want to highlight like this ==highlighted== then it is highlighted.
Or were you thinking of something different?

Hi @bradyrosino
Can we have the “Highlight” option be added to the menus in Edit -> Format?
We’d be happy to submit your request! As @nalexwhite mentioned, you can use Markdown in the entry body for this if that will help in the meantime.

+1 for shortcut/option in Mac format menu; while @nalexwhite is correct that you can use markdown, it’s not as convenient when trying to quickly format preexisting text
