Handwritten entries disappear on clicking “Done”

Hi
I handwrite my journal entries on my iPad Mini using a pencil by using the ‘Draw’ option. Once finished, I just click “Done” and the entry is there as a picture. 99% of the time this works fine: the “image”/ my handwritten text closes and appears as an image on the day’s entry. Occasionally, though, when I click “Done” I might as well have clicked “Delete” as the entry just totally disappears and I’m left with nothing on the entry screen other than the title I’ve put in. The items also do not show in the ‘Trash’; it’s like they never existed, which is particularly frustrating as it takes some time to write my entries for each day.
So, I’m hoping you can assist with the following as to whether:
- there a way I can retrieve my entry;
- I can stop this happening again.

that sounds extremely frustrating. Have you noticed any pattern of steps/conditions when this happens? Doesn’t sound very reproducible so that can be tricky.
