Full record content not syncing to 1 of 3 devices

As of a few days ago some records I created on my iPhone that I afterwards updated on my Mac or iPad are not getting updated on my iPhone. The Mac and iPad seem to be picking up each others edits, but the iPhone isn’t.

I created a new record on my iPhone after noticing this and edits to this record on the iPhone or Mac are indeed syncing normal across all 3 devices.

The Mac and iPad seem to be picking up new and old record updates as expected.

Some things I tried or observed

    • Contacted support. They told me to get bent and ask here for help. Seems “Plus” memberships get no official support from Day One. They won’t even answer my requests to clarify this after 2 days and a couple requests for clarification. This exchange (or lack thereof) has bummed me out.
    • All Sync settings across my devices seem to be aligned
    • “Last Sync” time on the affected iPhone is current and “Up to Date”
    • On iPhone tried “Sync now” – no change
    • On iPhone tried “Disable sync” and re-enabled it – no change
    • On iPhone tried signing out and back in – no change
    • On iPhone on one of the affected records I tapped “Version History” and “Cancel”ed out of the version history overlay. This made one of the affected records update to the proper content on the iPhone, but not other records I tried the same thing on.

At this point I have no idea how many of my 2500 records might be affected.

Thanks for any help or ideas!

  • @7wtw788djt Just to clear things up, we offer priority email support to our Premium users. However, we’re always here in the Forum to assist all of our users. If you’re unfamiliar with the different plans we offer on Day One, you can find more information here.

As for your sync issue, we’re on top of it. In fact, we’ve just released Day One iOS 2023.17 to address this problem. Have you managed to update the Day One app on all your devices?

If you’re still experiencing issues, we suggest signing in and out on your iOS device. This method often solves the problem. Just a friendly reminder – this step will initiate a re-sync of all your data, which might take a while and use some of your phone’s data. Remember to keep the app open while this process is ongoing.

Please let us know if these solutions – updating the app or signing in and out – resolve your issue.

    Thank you!

Wanted to get back to report email support did engage and attempt to assist me. They put a lot of effort in, but certain records never did sync correctly after repeated iOS and macOS Day One updates, login/outs, reinstalls, etc.

I eventually discovered a means to fix the final broken records myself by looking at their edit history and finding the edits I’d made. Once I reverted to a previous edit (which seemed like a dupe as it had all the edits?), things started syncing again.

I never did get a clear idea what was happening or how widespread this issue might be in my overall journal, but I got all the more recent records in sync using this method. My faith on continued, stable synching is on shaky ground though as no real real resolution was ever had outside of me tinkering around with a lot of records.

Anyway, I’m just here to report email support did in fact engage after a delay to at least attempt to help, so that is something!

Thank you @7wtw788djt for following up!

Were the revisions reset on the device that originally created the entries? If you would not mind a little more detail here, we can pass that along to the developers for additional insight. Thanks!
