Frequent Daily Crashing

For the past 3-4 weeks or so, my Day One app has been crashing on a daily basis with just normal use, sometimes crashing multiple times per day. Not sure if this is a software problem or that I am still running macOS Monterey (Ver. 12.7.6) but the constant crashing is definitely a concern. Anyone else having the same issue.

Hi, @creativelyvaliantade3232453! Can you let us know which version of the app you’re running?
In addition, does the app only crash when you visit certain screens or take certain actions? For example, is it only when you click a particular button? Please share as many details as you can to help us replicate the issue.

I have a similar problem. I’ll start the Mac app and when I click to add an entry, it crashes.
I then reopen, wait, then try to add again.
When I reopen, there is usually a Blank Entry. I can then go into it and edit it.I’m running version 2025.10 (1663) and verified on the Mac App store that it is the most recent. My Mac is a 2018 Mac mini (3.2 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7) with Sequoia 15.5
I’ve also restarted computer and app. Problem persists.Thanks, Patrick

I’m unable to reproduce this on my end.
Can you verify your entries are synced to dayone.me?
If they are, could we have you try to reinstall Day One on your end using the steps in the article here: https://dayoneapp.com/guides/troubleshooting/uninstalling-and-reinstalling-day-one-for-macos/

I have had similar issue for 1-2 years now and it happens on both Mac Mini (Tahoe Beta) and MacBook Pro (Sonoma). The problem seems to be happen (nearly every time) when clicking anything on the app that would “open something” and the computer has been idle for several hours. After the crash the app works normally until the next idle interval.
I have sent the crash reports to Apple many times, but gave up after 20+ reports :D

Same issue here. Has been occurring for at least the last week or two as soon as I open the app on my Mac.

Previously the crashing issue vanished for me after updating to the newest version, but is now back and happening again about 1-2 times / day. Basically, nearly every time the app has been on the background for a while and gets focus.

Our developers have identified and fixed the issue, and the fix will be available in the
2025.18.1update.Please keep an eye out for that update in the App Store, and let us know if you still have any trouble after updating.
