folders/list for better overview, less chaos
-
I would love to have many sub-diaries, but this gets chaotic quite fast. So if there was a feature to collect diaries with similar topics to a folder, this would be a great addition (for now I’ve just been using new entries within a diary, but this is not as convenient and less-satisfying)

@janheinimann @coolazr That’s a great request! I’ll be happy to forward this to our team for consideration. Thank you for the suggestion!

I can not underscore the power that a folders feature would add.
This is an amazing app, with incredible capabilities.
Adding the ability to group “journals” into folders would absolutely set it on fire.
This is not just a place to have a journal to write down thoughts, ideas, and reflections. These journals, with their various functionalities, end up functioning as a master productivity tool. I can create journals about family activities, journals about household maintenance, recipes, business ideas and plans, car maintenance records and plans, holidays, travel, health, exercise, etc…..I can use the calendar feature as an actual family calendar. I can not only “manage” all of these things, but in the process, feel like I am also committing them to posterity and so that I can look back and remember them all and have a “family history”…the possibilities are endless for tracking, productivity, and enrichment; and these possibilities are limited by only two things – 1) users creativity and 2) FOLDERS.
Without folders, just having a list with 100 different journals makes it impossible to manage. However, with folders, I can group all of my journals for quick and easy access and reference. I can have a separate folder that contains all of my journals for all the various topics listed above.
If you have ever used the app “Anylist” they have unlimited folder functionality, allowing users to generate lists, plans, etc. and then organizing them into folders. To be able to do so with “journals” and with all of the added features of “Day One” would be an absolute game changer. Not only could it replace all other productivity tools, but could provide what no other productivity tool provides; a space to also organize your thoughts and feelings and paradigms, etc.
What I love is that YOU ARE NOT a productivity app. I love that this is a journaling app first. But with just a small tweak of adding folders, you would allow me a one stop place to literally manage all of my mental bandwidth as a professional and dad, trying to balance a family life, a home life, a professional life, and along the way reflect on an inner life, and have an easy way to track it all and remember it all and not let it slip away.
Please please please add folders! With love and respect and kindness, gratitude for what you all do and for making this app.

I really need this feature as well please! I’m a current premium user but will likely need to switch if sub-folders (or stacked journals, something along those lines to section off within a journal) aren’t likely going to be implemented

Dear DayOne-Team
Please consuder bulding the folders-feature. It seems that I am not the only one with this request and many other organising apps have this feature.
Shortly after writing this post last summer, I stopped using DayOne frequently, because it just became to chaotic & cluttered and it is too difficult organising all the stuff I would want to use DayOne for (studies, „normal“ diary, health, organising, things I read,…)
If this feature will not appear in the near future, I will probably have to cancel DayOne, because all the good stuff & things about it are not of good use, if I can‘t find them in a short time.
Thank you for considering & best wishes,
Jan
