Fix the tag menu that moves

I love Day One, but it has one of the most frustrating UI elements of any app I use – adding tags.
On iOS, when I open the tag selector and go to tap a tag, the keyboard pops up a moment later and pushes the list up the screen. The result is that my tap lands on the wrong tag because the list moved under my finger.
On macOS, the issue is similar. The tag selector opens, but as I click on a tag, the list rearranges itself, shifting the position of every tag. Just like on iOS, I end up clicking the wrong one because the list has moved.
This may sound small, but when you tag entries every day, it becomes extremely annoying. Since there’s still no option to set default tags for new entries (something I’ve requested before), I have to manually add them each day, and the current behavior makes that harder than it should be.
Is there a way to avoid this issue on both platforms? Can you please improve the tag picker to fix this? Thanks!

Thanks for reaching out to us. I’m not able to reproduce the tags rearaging or moving on iOS or Mac. Can you share what versions of Day One you’re using?

Please let me know if you’re able to see what I’m describing.
In both cases, if I attempt to tap or click on a second tag from the list, the list moves up (on iOS) or down (on macOS) before I can select it. Obviously, if you slow down and wait for it to move, you can tap at the new location, but it’s terrible UX to change the menu location a second after you show it.
I’m on v2025.18.1 on Mac and v2025.19.2 on iOS

Hi @aesterling – Thanks for the videos. I can see how that could be annoying when trying to add multiple tags quickly. I don’t have a workaround to share, other than adding them slightly slower, but I’ve reported this to our developers so they can look into improving this behaviour. Thanks for letting us know about it.

Thanks @staff-donnie it would be great to have this behavior changed in Day One on both iOS and macOS.
