Feature request: Toggle an entry locked against future edits

I’d love to see the ability to toggle an individual entry in Day One as not editable. Obviously, you could toggle it back to edit mode, but I find it concerning that precious entries can get so easily corrupted when you are opening them to read. I’ve many times left the window open and thankfully noticed that I’d inadvertently changed the entry. I know there are now logs of entry changes so I could get the changes reversed, but that presupposes I realize I’ve corrupted something.

Great suggestion! We’d be happy to submit your request to the team for future consideration.

I think this is an important request. I’ve corrupted precious entries as well. I recognize there is history on the edits but sometimes I don’t know what I’m missing. It makes scrolling an entry feel dangerous in case I do something by mistake.

Well, look and learn from Apple and what they did with Pages!

Having Edit / Read mode is essential for small screens that are easily touched by accident when put away, bumped into, dropped.

I cannot simply hand the phone to my kids to read an entry, as they always touch the screen and accidentally start editing.

  • @jhwb Thanks for sharing your feedback!

I can definitely understand how easy it is for accidental edits to happen on smaller screens — especially when handing your phone to others.

I’ve submitted your request to our team for future consideration. While I can’t make any promises, we really appreciate the feedback
