Feature Request: Sync Calendar Events with Individual Diary Entries

    Dear Day One Team,

    I am a long-time user and a huge fan of your app’s ability to help me document my life. However, I have a suggestion that I believe could greatly enhance the usability and appeal of Day One.

    Currently, I can view calendar events on the “Today” page, which is very helpful. But it would be transformative if calendar events could be directly linked to individual diary entries for specific dates.

    Here’s why this feature is critical:

    1. Ease of Journaling Past Events:
      Many users (including myself) often want to fill out past diary entries but struggle to recall what happened on a specific day. If calendar events could appear automatically when I open a past date to write a journal entry, it would save time and make the journaling process more seamless.
    2. Streamlined User Experience:
      While it is possible to cross-reference a calendar app, switching between apps is inefficient. Integrating calendar events directly into the journal entry interface would keep everything in one place and make the process much smoother.
    3. Improved User Retention:
      This feature could make journaling more accessible, especially for users who struggle with consistency. By bridging the gap between planning and reflection, Day One could attract a larger audience of users who value both productivity and journaling.

    Is it technically feasible to link calendar events to individual entries? If, for example, clicking on a past date automatically displayed its associated events, it would simplify the process of filling in entries significantly.

    I hope this request can be considered seriously by your development team. Many users, as seen in similar forum posts, are seeking a more integrated experience between their calendars and Day One. I truly believe this would elevate the app’s functionality and user satisfaction.
