Feature Request: Real-time “Character Count” for macOS (and iOS/iPadOS)
-
Hello Day One Team,
I am considering using Day One as my primary tool for drafting SNS posts and daily brainstorming. Since I do most of my heavy writing on macOS, I have a specific request regarding the count functionality.
Currently, I find the “Word Count” in the entry info insufficient for my needs. For Japanese users, knowing the “Character Count” is essential.
I would like to request the following improvements:
- Real-time Character Count on macOS: It would be ideal to have an option to display the character count in real-time on the main editor or status bar, without needing to open a separate menu.
- Selected Text Count: I need to be able to see the count for only the selected portion of text. This is a must-have feature for fitting drafts into specific SNS character limits.
- Cross-platform Support: While macOS is my priority, having this same functionality on iOS and iPadOS would make the experience seamless.
Are there any plans to implement these features for users who write in character-based languages like Japanese?
Thank you for your consideration!
