Feature Request: Fuzzy or Partial Match Search (Like in VSCode)
-
Hi Day One team and community,
I’d love to see improvements to the search functionality in the Day One web and mobile apps—specifically, support for fuzzy search or partial word matching.
Currently, search seems to only return exact word matches, which can make it difficult to find entries unless I remember the exact phrasing I used.
What I’m hoping for is something more like how search works in VSCode and similar tools:
- Typing a partial string (e.g. projUp) would match “ProjectUpdate”
- Matching substrings even in the middle of words
- Results ranked by relevance, not just by date or exact match
This kind of flexible search would make it much easier and faster to find entries—especially for users who take a lot of notes or use Day One for technical or work-related journaling.
Is something like this on the roadmap? Would love to hear if others feel the same.
Thanks!
