Feature request, footnotes

I’m a long time Day One user (12+ years); i would love to be able to use footnotes in my writing in Day One. I know there’s a way to use markdown, but it is cumbersome. And, I know it’s possible to do so manually, but that’s hard re editing.

Footnotes the way Google Docs, MSWord, Mac Pages, old time Word perfect!, etc works. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thank you for setting up a forum and noting it on Facebook; the only reason i use FB is for Day One and other communities; it’s cumbersome; this is much nicer, and far better to be off of Facebook.

  • Hi @mgstf5144 – We have an existing internal feature request open for footnotes, so I’ve added your vote there for consideration. Thanks for your feedback!

Thank you so much for the response and for telling me there’s already a request in for it. Really appreciate it.

@staff-donnie – Please add my vote for footnotes as well. I recently realized how a lack of the types of footnotes @mgstf5144 described (+1 on Word Perfect for me, too) significantly disrupts my flow when I have to stop and figure out how I can make a footnote without a footnote.

I did find some interesting Community Plugins for Obsidian that can create footntoes. I haven’t tried them out yet but perhaps there are some ideas there that DayOne might be able to leverage for hopefully implementing footnotes!
