Feature Request: Export Adobe InDesign and/or Microsoft Word
-
I have LOVED using Day One, but am considering other journal apps to get better export options.
Please, please, please give us export options that allow us better options for customizing the layout with font styles, photo sizes, etc.
For instance, the current export is very clunky and creates really awkward layouts where a single photo might suddenly take up an entire page, while other photos don’t. There should be a way to specify the size of photos and how much space they take up on the page.
Also, we should be able to adjust the fonts, font sizes, paragraph spacing, line spacing, etc. in the print version independently of the digital version of our journals.Lastly, there should be export options that provide editable document formats. At the very least, Microsoft Word. But ideally, also Adobe InDesign.
What we’re creating in our journals is often a legacy document that we want to be passed down for generations. Please give us the ability to customize these into beautiful, professional print pieces.

Thank you for sharing your feedback — I’ve added your suggestions to our internal feature requests.
In case you missed it, we allow customized fonts on the macOS desktop apps. You can learn more about that here: https://dayoneapp.com/guides/day-one-for-mac/editing-and-formatting-in-day-one-for-macos/
As for preserving your Day One journals, I encourage you to consider Book Printing, which is available on iOS apps (iPhone or iPad): https://dayoneapp.com/guides/day-one-ios/book-printing/

Thanks for the response.
The font / layout customization I’m asking for is related to book printing. For instance, I dislike that the date headings in the printed book version are so small — as that is a primary text I would be looking for when flipping through a book, to find a specific journal entry.
So at this point, printing a book with the very limited options available would be undesirable.
I hope the team will consider adding for customization for book printing as you’re able. Thanks!
