FEATURE REQUEST: Caption and Copyright Options for Photos
-
I have looked through menus and options in the app, but can’t seem to find a way to independently caption a photo. I’m not talking about just inserting an image and then writing about it underneath. I’m talking about having the option to insert an image and a text field just below it (similar to a table), with the text defaulting to something a couple points smaller than the regular body text and italicized. I know it might be a little tricky if you’re looking to do a collage of images.
Also, it’d be cool to have a copyright field for the image that would put the copyright symbol and a small text field on TOP of the image in any one of the four corners. You could probably pull that from the EXIF metadata?
Whatever the case, I love this app! Keep making it great!

If you press and hold on an image, you get the option to insert text below (caption). But I personally agree that it could be better. I also can not tell the difference between an image caption and just normal text in my journal. Smaller text size, and potentially a slightly different background box added to it, connected to the image in question could be great.

this is even more important when it comes to accessibility; I like to caption my photos beforehand, but when adding the captions, so that I know what the photo is of, it gets lost when adding the photo to DayOne. As a result, I have a pile of journal entries that don’t have anything even remarkably close to telling me what the photo is, so I’m kept guessing because I can’t see the photo. I still participate in photo-taking because as long as I have the ability to caption them, then, I’m good and can enjoy them just like anyone else.

Yet another good point @cambridgeport90! I’ve added accessibility as a priority to this feature. Thank you for offering your perspective here. It’s very appreciated
