Feature Request
-
Would it ever be possible to add music via Spotify? I love the feature that logs what you’re listening to while journaling but it seems to only register from Apple Music which I no longer use. It would be great if it could sync with Spotify, or even if we could manually add what we’re listening to.
thanks. -
Hello there,
Great suggestion! I’d be happy to submit a feature request on your behalf for future consideration!

I’m here on the flip side.
I’d like to be able to add in Apple Music links and be able to play the preview from within my DayOne entries.
Any plans to add this feature?

Hello @fuziondca,
I can definitely submit this to the team for future consideration. It’s not currently something the team is working on, but may consider in the future.

I would like to propose a feature request to have folders added. Perhaps it is a minor feature, but it will help organize all the previous journals in a few folders so we don’t have to search for them and keep the current dashboard clean.

Hi @sheikhmohsintariq,
This is a good request, I have submitted it to the team for future consideration. -
Unfortunately, this is not getting any attention.
Frankly, I think it’s a bit ridiculous that I cannot properly embed Apple Music content (songs, playlists, albums) into Journals. I would have thought that sharing music with my future self or others is a rather basic requirement. I’d have use cases for both my personal and shared journals.
I found this (Shortcuts) shortcut online, but at the end of the days it’s just a workaround, plus it only works on iOS/iPadOS, but not on Mac where I prefer to type using a proper keyboard. Seems the Mac app is lacking the App Intents required. Sigh… https://www.reddit.com/r/shortcuts/comments/12hvzmy/from_apple_music_to_day_one/

I’ve not tried this, but are we able to directly embed our own music? Streaming services are fine, until the tracks get removed. Then we’re left with a dead link.

Hi @fuziondca,
Music metadata can only be added automatically in the iOS app when you’re using Apple’s Music app while creating your entry.
Here’s the first step: Start playing a song in Apple’s Music app, then create or edit an entry in Day One while the music is still playing. The music information should automatically be captured as metadata.
You can view this music metadata later by tapping the More (•••) button at the top right of your entry, then selecting “Entry Info.”
For more details about entry metadata, you can check out our guide: https://dayoneapp.com/guides/day-one-ios/entry-info-metadata-in-day-one-for-ios/
