failure to request access to calendar app
-
Noticed that events and pictures were not enabled and required permission from their respective apps. Went to Privacy & Security and taped calendar, which said no apps have requested access. This was true of photos as well. Further, there is no way to request that Day One appear as requesting access. I would really like to use these, any suggestions?

Disclaimer: I’m not Day One support, but I’ve provided technical support(and taken part in app development)for smartphones. This sounds like an issue with your device settings, not your app. It sounds like you’re on an Android device. Since there are hundreds of those, this recommendation might not apply to you.
Rather than going to “Privacy and Security”, which sounds like Google settings, not device settings, go to your device settings app. Swipe down: there may be a search bar hidden at the top. Even if there’s not, this should be fairly simple: you’re searching for “Permissions”. You can search by Permission type(like Calendar or Camera) by going to Settings>>Privacy>>Permission Manager(if there’s a search bar, search “Permission Manager”).Alternatively, go to Settings>>Apps>>Day One. If you can’t find it, look for “See all apps” and see if it shows up then(if it doesn’t… yikes…). Select “Permissions” and voila.

Sorry I wasn’t clear in my description. I am entirely on the Apple platform. The app works properly on my iPad and iPhone, but not my MacBook. In case it matters, the MacBook is a 2012 (9,2) running Ventura OS.

If your data is synced, can you delete Day One on Mac only and reinstall it? See here:
Uninstalling and Reinstalling Day One for macOS
Let us know if that helps.

I have wiped the SSD and reinstalled Ventura, then I went to the App Store and got a new version of Day One, but I still have the same problem. Day One is not requesting access to pictures or events under security and privacy. There is not a way to add an app to either calendar or photos. I would really like to use these aspects of Day One on my MacBook. They are fully functional on my iPad and iPhone. Any help would be appreciated.
