Exporting recordings to voice memo
-
I make a number of voice recordings and often feel I don’t have the time to listen to my own voice at normal speed and would love the opportunity to go quicker.
One of the ways that I found around this is to share my recordings to voice memo from my iPhone via the share sheet.
Historically I’ve had no problem with this, however, in trying to do so today I noticed that voice memo isn’t an option under certain circumstances.
it appears that you can only share to voice memo if the recording was made on the Apple Watch, but you don’t appear to be able to do so if the recording is made using the voice record function from the phone directly. This is of course crazy.
I have done the usual troubleshooting including resetting my phone in the hopes that this would resolve it but it hasn’t.
Does anybody know what’s going on here or can they give any advice?
Thanks in advance.

As an update to this…
I have found that by sharing/saving the recording to the Files app I can then import it into voice memo to edit the recording as I want to.
This further confirms for me that it should really be able to be exported directly out of Day One directly into voice memo without this nonsense in between.

Hi @marcusboswell,
This is a great request!
Although exporting recordings to voice memo is not a feature we currently offer or have planned, we have an internal issue logged about this as we’ve heard from other users they would love to see similar features, so I’ve added your comments as a “vote”.
I’ve checked and we have no timeline for any of this request, but that’s not to say we won’t take a look for the future.
We appreciate your feedback and thank you for your support. Please let us know if we can help.
