Duplicate Entry Detection
-
I found that the new feature ‘Duplicate Entry Detection’ could cause stress while I am duplicating an entry. It is inevitable that you will have an entirely same entry when you DUPLICATE it. However, having a window popping up every time and to click ‘Keep Duplicates’ is annoying. The feature might be intended to help users understand they have duplicated entries in their journals. But instead of having an always-popping window, a simple ‘!’ symbol to indicate duplicated entries might be more helpful in this case.

Hi @kq87dsvrzh,
Just so I understand your use case better, would you share more information about why you’re duplicating entries?
It sounds like you’re duplicating many entries on purpose, is that correct?
The warning for duplicate entry detection assumes that our users do not want to have duplicate entries in the same journal. It sounds like you intentionally want to have duplicate entries in your journal, however. We’d like to understand your use case so we can make a better-informed feature request.

Thank you for the reply.
Yes, I do duplicate many entries on purpose, and here is the background. I like jotting down quotes from books and movies, and I have specific formats and tags for them. Instead of creating a new entry, alter the format and add tags. It would be convenient for me just to duplicate them and replace the text within.

Hi @kq87dsvrzh,
Thank you for sharing your feedback! I’ve added your suggestion for an alternative method of indicating duplicated entries (like using a ‘!’ symbol) to our list of feature requests for future consideration.
