Disable photo’s “Use attachment time and location?” pop up message
-
Hello!
When adding a photo to an entry we always get the following pop up message: “Use attachment time and location?” and we need to choose “Yes” or “No”.
Personally, I add at least one photo every day and always end up answering “No”. Therefore, I would prefer to skip this prompt somehow, if possible.
I reached out to Support who replied there’s currently no way to disable this pop up message. I think it would be helpful if there was a way to choose not to receive this prompt, e.g. “Never use attachment time and location” by default, so we wouldn’t have to choose the same answer (“No”) every single time a photo gets added to an entry.
Can you please consider adding this feature to one of your future versions?
Thanks!

Hi, I like this feature, but I think there is a way around it. On the Mac, you can go into the Photos app, go into Settings from the Photos menu and next to Sharing: uncheck “Include location information.”
I don’t see how to do it on the iPhone. Let’s face it, touching one thing on our screens is not much of an inconvenience. ;-)

Thanks for your comment.
I forgot to mention my request was for iPhone.
I agree touching one thing on our screen isn’t much of an inconvenience, unless you do it every single day/time you add a photo (I do this every day, at least once) – then it becomes less convenient.

I absolutely agree. I am backfilling with old photos and say ‘no’ every time. Having the choice to disable the pop up question would be much appreciated.

I also find this a useful feature which I use and do not feel clicking no is an inconvenience. However some do so a setting with the default to ask the question which those who don’t want it can then change in settings would appear to meet the needs of all users.

Hello, @itayatc, @ianmel12, and @sharonf2ad782b52!
I would be more than happy to submit feature requests for all of you!
@walueg I appreciate you trying to assist! That was a great tip for Mac!

I agree, it would be excellent to have the option to disable or skip this prompt every time I add photos in the iOS app. I add photos everyday, and never want to use the photo metadata for my journal entry. Thanks!

Hi there, @aesterling! Thanks for the feedback on managing the photo metadata. I’ve submitted this to the feature request as a new vote. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with use, we really appreciate it!

+100 on this request.
I’m not saying this flippantly – it’s legitimately the worst thing about the app.
The fact that it hangs for about half a minute when I open it is a close second.
Otherwise, I love this software on iPhone and Mac. ❤️ -
It also breaks positioning the cursor. When the pop up shows, and I tap on the text field again, the cursor always moves first to where it was last positioned (after a delay), and then I have to reposition it to where I actually wanted it to be (to add the next photo).
Adding a photo always requires adding a new line as well. -
Hi there, @jamesvalaitis130b19f246! I see what you mean about the cursor placement. I’ve shared this feedback with the team too. Thank you so much for your input!
