DayOne Should Introduce a “Year in Journaling” Recap
-
Imagine if DayOne introduced a feature similar to Spotify Wrapped, showcasing your journaling stats and highlights at the end of the year. It could be a fantastic way to reflect on your personal growth while celebrating your journaling journey. Here are some ideas for what this “Year in Journaling” could include:
- Total Entries & Streaks: How many entries you wrote and your longest streak.- Word Count: Total words written throughout the year.- Most Written Day/Month: Discover which days or months inspired the most journaling.- Emotional Trends: Insights into your most common emotions or themes (e.g., gratitude, challenges).- Memorable Moments: Highlights of frequently used words or topics that defined your year.- Your Most Creative Entry: The longest, most reflective, or most personal entry of the year.- Journaling Milestones: Anniversaries, hitting big numbers of entries, or completing personal challenges.
This feature would not only make journaling more engaging but also encourage users to stay consistent, knowing they’ll get to see an insightful recap of their efforts. It’s a fun way to visualize personal growth and makes journaling feel even more rewarding.

If I could piggyback off of this awesome idea, I’d love it if AI would look at my entries for the year, and pull up stuff like, “This entry has the most photos in it,” or “This entry mentions your new baby,” or “We think this entry is pretty special, because x“
That’s half the fun with Wrapped lists, it’s not just about the music I listened to, it’s the artists I listened to the most, or the most popular artist in my Wrapped, etc. -
You can add any IA you want, but please give us the possibility to totally switch off IA.
I do not want my private journal to be scanned by IA. Never. -
