Day One Spell checking control

I would like to know where the Day One app settings are for controlling use of spell checking in editing entries in my Day One app. At the moment, I cannot find any settings or control options: Day One “assumes” I want automatic spell checking AND suggested auto-correction and misses my words and abbreviations quite often. Please advise me how I can turn off spell-checking or otherwise control options. AW

Hi @anwhite03! Great question. We do not have in-app settings for spelling and grammar. We use the operating system spelling/autocorrect options. Can you tell us which device(s) are experiencing this issue?

iOS: go to the device Settings app > General > Keyboard

macOS: open Day One > click Edit in the file menu > select Spelling & Grammar (which uses the system settings)

Android: go to the device Settings app > System > Languages & input.

Let us know if that helps or if we can assist you further.

I am struggling with the Web version not auto correcting typing errors when I am in a hurry, which is always. Does the web version not have a spelling correction feature?

Otherwise terrific app, love the template builder feature. It’s enriching my life. Best app in this space, I think.

  • Hi @downeydarren1,

Thanks for your kind words about the Day One web app! We’re glad you’re finding the template builder feature enriching.

The Day One web app doesn’t currently have a built-in spell checker.

However, you can use the spell-checking capabilities of your web browser. You can usually enable or disable them in your browser’s settings.
