Day One iPhone App keeps Crashing

As of yesterday, 12/15, I cannot keep my Day One app open. I open it and it crashes almost immediately. I am a Premium subscriber and have had the app for nearly 3 years and have never experienced a problem like this. I have confirmed that both the app and my iPhone 13 Pro are up-to-date. I have tried to send a diagnostics report to them, but it crashes before I can get to the screen. Anyone else having this problem? Any ideas on how to resolve it? Thank you in advance

As of a week ago, my Day One app keeps crashing on my iPhone 13 as well. I made sure all updates have been performed, but nothing changed, still crashing all the time. I have 3 years of weekly journaling an 29 GB on my app and it is really frustrating for me. How can I fix the problem?

Hello @npoletti154! Can I have you confirm the version you’re using?
Day One > Settings > About > Version Number
The current version is 2024.13. If you are not updated to that version, please try updating and let us know if the app continues to crash. The link below should take you directly to that update.

Is it crashing or does the app look like an update is not finishing? If it is the latter, try restarting your device.

Can you turn on Airplane mode and then try launching Day One? Does it still crash?

I turned airplane mode on, launched Day One, and it still crashes. The app won’t stay open more than a second before it disappears again.

Are you able to log in to https://dayone.me/login and see all journal data (including your Encryption key in Settings > Account)?
If so, you could try deleting/reinstalling the app on iPhone.

I recently updated the app and got logged out. Everytime i try to log in it says error, including on the web app. I don’t want to lose my entries, please help

Same here. Can’t log in on my iPad. Error message says “gateway time out”. Something wrong with the servers?

Same for me, even worse, it came at the same time as my subscription ran out so now I am freaking out because I dont know if it is the app or my subscription or if my account is deleted…
But I also get the “Gateway” error so I hope it is just a temporary issue.

@mofografie it’s probably a temporary server issue and I’m betting the team is aware. Don’t uninstall or anything. Wait a bit and see. @lunargracegreyson

Correct, this was related to AWS experienced a global outage. It impacted Day One sync, and log in capabilities. Please check our sync status page for updates on the outage. Thanks for your patience.
