Day One images showing up in basic computer search!!
-
Today I was randomly searching for jpgs on my Mac (in finder) and I see some random images that I KNOW were only in my Day One app on my computer…so I see where this photo is, and it says Library….Data / documents /dayonephotos/
as well as dayonephotos/thumbnails
So anyone who uses my computer (like a computer tech or apple support) can see all my private photos that are supposed to be encrypted in DAY ONE….
I’m hoping someone can help me with this.

Hi @dejaliyah, thanks for reaching out!
The end-to-end encryption makes sure your data is encrypted before it gets transferred to our server. The data will remain encrypted on our server after the upload is successful.
You can further protect your local data on the Mac by enabling the FileVault feature, that is macOS’s built-in feature: https://support.apple.com/en-my/guide/mac-help/mh11785/mac
You may also want to consider enabling the app-locking passcode on the Mac app to prevent any unauthorized access from someone who temporarily uses your Mac: https://dayoneapp.com/guides/settings/passcode-biometrics-in-app-options-in-day-one-for-macos/
Let us know if you have more questions!

Thank you for your reply! I already have a password for my app. I also already have firevault on….I’m very very sad that my images are available for anyone to find. The text seems to be protected but not the images…

Do you use a shared computer? If the computer is being shared, we recommend setting up profiles for each user. That way, someone cannot access your content. You would need to sign in to your profile with a password. See here: https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/add-a-user-or-group-mchl3e281fc9/mac
