Daily Entry page doesn’t change on Mac version

I have Dayone installed on my Mac Mini and my Macbook Air. I use both computers regularly.

Yesterday I was on the Macbook and allowed it to sync and update entries (mostly posted from my iPhone or Mac Mini).

It updated but for some reason when in calendar view I cannot page forward or back to previous or future dates without the currently displayed day not changing.

Eg, Today (for us) is Monday. I can see its entries but when I click on the left arrow to view Sunday’s entries, the entries for Monday stay displayed.

The heading at the top changes. Eg, from showing “Today” to showing “Yesterday” or “2 days ago”. But the daily entry is locked on today’s entries.

I’ve quit Dayone, restarted it, and even rebooted the Macbook without any changes to this behavior.

It’s working fine on the Mac Mini, my iPad and iPhone.

    Thanks.

Hi @marts57. Thanks for letting us know. We will do our best to help. May we have you try the following?

    1. Please quit Day One
    2. Open the Terminal app.
    3. Run this command: killall cfprefsd
    4. Open Day One and see if the issue is resolved.

Let us know if you can then navigate to previous dates in the Today view, with the entries changing as expected.

    Hi.

Thanks for responding. I’ll have a look using that terminal command and will get back to you.

    Cheers

    Hi

Just now I ran that terminal command to “quit all”. However, when I opened DayOne the problem still exists.
If I click on the X to close the entry window I can click on any day to open that day’s entries. However, clicking on the left or right arrows to go back a day or forward a day does nothing.

So, the problem is still there.

I’m running MacOS Sonoma 14.5 on an M2 Macbook Air.

    Thanks.

I emailed you to get more information about this. Let us know if you do not receive it.

    Hi James

I’ve received the email. I’ve gathered the diagnostics from my Mac Mini and the Macbook Air and have emailed them back to you.

Just to clarify – the Mac Mini’s version works fine. It’s the Macbook which doesn’t.

I look forward to see what you find.

I wonder though – would removing the app from the Macbook and reinstalling it help?

  • Hi! Thanks for providing the logs!

I have responded to your email and we can continue the conversation via email. Thanks!
