Compressing media that is stored in Day One entries
-
Is there a way to compress assets stored in Day One in a way that also syncs upstream?
I would like to run some lossy minification on photos and videos, as I have the full quality elsewhere anyways and don’t want DA to take up so much storage and traffic.
(I know about saving device storage, but looking explicitly to reduce traffic and storage on all devices in the chain)
Asked differently: When images and videos in
~/Library/Group Containers/5U8NS4GX82.dayoneapp2are manipulated outside Day One:- will something break (e.g. because checksums have changed)
- will the changes be synced to the cloud and thus other devices

Hi, @klickreflex! There currently isn’t a way to do this.

This isn’t a method we officially support. Instead, can you try our local space-saving options here instead?

At the moment, we don’t have an option to automatically compress and use lower-quality images that are attached to Day One entries.
We do have an internal open feature request to optimize photo resolution. We have added your feedback to the request.
