Better options for formatting photos and page breaks in PDF exports

I would like to export my entries to PDF, both for backup and also so that I can potentially print them and bind them as a book. THe PDF export process works pretty well. However, there aren’t much in the way of controls for how the pictures are displayed or their sizes. The text for an entry often ends up on another page separate from the photos which is really annoying! Can we get some more tools for arranging the photos and their sizing? or a way to make sure that the text always shares a page with the photos from the same entry?

We don’t currently offer more control over PDF exports in this way, but I’m happy to forward this along to our team to take into consideration with future development!

I strongly request an improvement to the PDF export feature. The current exported PDFs feel dull due to limited layout styling, weak formatting, and misaligned elements. For users who cannot access the printed book option, a beautifully formatted PDF becomes a lifetime keepsake — so the quality truly matters.
Please take inspiration from apps like Daylio Journal and Journey Cloud, both of which generate clean, polished, and well-designed PDF exports. Features like proper margins, clear heading hierarchy, refined typography, consistent paragraph formatting, and correctly aligned images make a huge difference. Even subtle background designs can enhance the final look.
I sincerely request that Day One upgrade its PDF export engine to deliver a beautifully crafted, professional-looking layout.

From what I understand, as long as this is not related to AI, Day One does not consider anymore any new feature, or improvement of an existing feature (like PDF print).
After all these years using Day One, it is a pitty, but I started to look for another solution, as printing is mandatory for me. -

Add my +1 for this too!! Since I cannot currently order printed books on the Android platform my options for printing are almost zero. Ordering printed journals for extensive trips was a huge reason I picked Day One. I thought I had read all of the fine print, but I missed the part about not printing from Android. 🙁 Other than that, I love the app!
