Auto backup of localisations ?
-
In the localisations menu, there is a possibility to “automatically save localisations”.
But when you open this menu, you have to manually save the localisations.
So :
1- the label is not correct, it should be “manual backup” and not “auto backup”
2- having an automatic backup, like toe one to save entries, would be much more efficient.
I lost thousands of localisations after reinstalling the app because of this, thinking that there was an auto backup.
Any additional info to share ? -
Hi @jcdichant
Are you referring to the automatic Text-only backups via iCloud?
If so, that feature is enabled by default for users on the basic plan, but needs to be manually enabled if you are a Day One Premium user.
We don’t enable it for Day One Premium since we offer a more robust backup system with Day One Sync, which includes revisions, etc.
More information on this here: https://dayoneapp.com/guides/troubleshooting/automatic-text-only-backups-to-icloud-for-day-one-ios/
If you are a Day One Basic user, you might want to verify if your data is in iCloud, as that is where the backups are stored. Additional information on this here too: https://dayoneapp.com/guides/day-one-ios/backup-and-sync-options-on-ios-and-macos/

I am a premium user and I am refering to the locations backup which is in :
Settings > Location history > Auto save of visits > Make a backup copy
(my translation of my french screens)
I would like to make this backup automatic and not manual. -
@jcdichant You’re right, those backups are not in fact automated, so I can see how that would be confusing. For now, to clarify the feature, we will change the label to “Visit backups” instead of “Visit auto-backups”, and we will revisit this in future to see if we can automated those backups.
Thanks for highlighting this discrepancy!
