To keep the users, are day one finally going to listen to its users and implement the features and design changes they wanna see, or are people just going to switch over to Apple for a more reliable experience?

I am new to Day One and just got on board a few weeks ago thanks to a suggestion from a friend. I would love to know some history and how slow developers have been to implement features. I am drawn to being able to quickly add stuff from my phone and computer and the sync. However there are things I miss like not being able to sort in folders and easy search filters that I can save and quickly navigate to find things with multiple tags, and ratings that I can do in Scrivener. Scrivener doesn’t sync as fast and easily, doesn’t pull in the temperature and location of entries. Those are all bells and whistles and with Journal being announced today in the Keynote I am kind of thinking about not even messing with Day One unless they really bring some things to the table. I see no way to filter based on tags but I am sure I missing something because what would be the point of tags in the first place?

    Thanks for your feedback!

If y’all have not seen this post from Paul Mayne, it has some great insight on the future of Day One: https://dayoneapp.com/blog/apples-journal-app-and-day-ones-evolution/.

Thanks @staff-james what I got from that article is that Suggestions API will help you in your app. Is there anything else that I missed. I am not sure how it will improve DayOne but it will. Perhaps my questions might be better suited in a new thread or elsewhere.

    Hi @adamwolson

I would love to know some history and how slow developers have been to implement features.

We have an on-going list of updates (bug fixes as well as new features) in the Release Notes. iOS, Mac, Android.

For features not yet supported (like folders), we are happy to submit requests to the team for future consideration. Tags can be used in the Filter/Search option: https://dayoneapp.com/guides/tips-and-tutorials/filters/

    I hope this helps!

Jumping on this topic here. I would love to see this better implemented. Currently, only have of the things are working. For example, the Music-Recap in Apple Journal can be selected, but is never imported into the Day One App. I was keen to see how Day One would either integrate or develop its own solution. But it looks like that they do not do much since they got acquired by Automatic.

Language-specific suggestions are still missing. Why? Is it really so difficult to implement German or French or whatever language-specific suggestions? I am writing in German, but I do not want to see English suggestions pop-ups.

Also, the emails that are sent out are still all English only. Would love to see some translations here.

And, please test a feature before you release it. The Suggestions-API seems to offer a lot, but Day One promised a lot and only delivered minimal. Sad to see.

    Hi @cblte!

Are you using the Suggestions option in Day One? Or is this being added to Apple Journal? As far as I have seen, Apple Journal does not have any export or share options yet.

We are using Apple’s API. What is shown in the suggestions is not populated by Day One. The entire Suggestions UI is from Apple.
