An error occurred during persistent store migration – how to fix????

Hi. I am using the free version of your application.
I bought a new computer running sonoma and reinstated all my files, apps, etc. using migration assistant from a time machine back up.
when i tried to launch the ‘day one’ app – i got the error message: An error occurred during persistent store migration. and the app won’t open.
I have a LOT of old entries i would like access to. they are NOT synched so just live locally on my system.
i see from an online post that the day one files reside in the following two containers:
5U8NS4GX82.dayoneapp
5U8NS4GX82.dayoneapp2
I believe the first version is for a legacy version of your app – while number 2 is for the current version – is this correct?
how do i regain access to my journal entries? Can you please explain step by step how to do this?
