After moving library from old macbook to new macbook I am missing 100 entries
-
Hi, kind of freaking out right now.. I just bought a new macbook and as I don’t yet have premium I chose the option to ‘move journal’ to new device which seemed to work but is missing the entire last year of entries. Now I”m scared to connect my old laptop to the internet (which still has those entries) in case somehow the new macbook overwrites that journal (not sure how it works when you move device)
It seems like the last years entries weren’t synced or backed up or however it works, right now I can still see them on the old computer but I won’t connect it to the internet until I get hopefully some advice from someone. That’s a lot of journaling!
Both computers are signed into my same apple id if that helps, newer one running Ventura, older Mojave
Please help!

Ok so support doesn’t exist for your product. Good to know. Will find another journal solution

Hi! We’ll be happy to help with that. Since this will involve getting your account information to troubleshoot, I have emailed you. Let us know if you did not receive it.

The simple question to answer though is this: if I connect my old macbook to the internet and ‘sync’ my day one journal account, will it update the new macbook with all the missing entries or could it possibly delete all the missing entries from the old macbook (which currently still has them) because the new one (which is missing the last years entries) is now the primary journal as i ‘moved’ the journal to there? that’s what I’m concerned about..

@dt2tk4gnd7 Signing in will not delete data from the old MacBook. If you’d like to take an extra precaution, please make a JSON export from the old MacBook first: https://dayoneapp.com/guides/tips-and-tutorials/exporting-entries. Then connect to the internet/sign in to the same account on all devices.
Let us know if that helps or if we can assist you further.
