Add option to default time stamps to “All Day”
-
While I completely see the value of time stamping entries, often times the default time stamp is 11:59 PM. This is pretty distracting and takes away from the overall look and flow. In order to remove this, I have to manually change the date and time to “All Day” for each entry. This is time consuming and very cumbersome when trying to quickly add things to journals for reference.
Also, as useful as time stamping is for some journals, the vast majority of my journals are lists, thoughts, references, etc., that don’t need a time stamp (which is why the default “11:59 PM” both looks bad and is distracting). I love being able to time stamp things when it enhances the journal (such as journaling a day for our family), but I really want an option that allows me to default the journal so that none of the entries are time stamped, and instead, I can click on the time stamp when it is of value.
To put it another way, I love the time stamp feature; I just use it so much less frequently, and therefore, end up having to manually click “all day” for each entry to make it disappear. I think it would be valuable to add the option for users to essentially reverse this so that it defaults to no time stamp (which would be most entries), with the ability to time stamp the fewer entries that need to be time stamped.
Thank you, this is such a dynamite application that is just a few hairs away from being the absolute best thing I’ve ever used!

Hello! Thanks so much for sharing this insight!
That’s a great request! I would be happy to forward your request to the team for consideration. While I am not able to provide detailed information on the point of time of any new release, I invite you to check the following for future feature announcements.

Strongly ditto this request. For me, ideally there would an extension to the dayone2 CLI. The best choice would be a separate option that creates an all-day event for the current day (unless the -d options specifies a different day). Right now I have to go through an annoying several manual steps to create my Daily Note…
Thanks!

Please add my vote. 90% of the time I want ‘all day’ entries. I would love a toggle to be able to change the default.

@cliffrobersongmailcom I have added your vote to this feature request.
Thanks for your support!

Please add this option for “All day” for all entries by default. I always manually check it and would love it to be set automatically. Thanks!

Ditto for me, too.
I *never* use a time stamp for journal entries, so it’s a pain to have to set each entry to all-day.

@aesterling @stevekoterski I’ve gone ahead and added your votes to the internal feature request!

Unless it is already in development, please add my vote to include an option to set default entry creation to “all day”. Thanks

I could not agree more. When I create a new journal, I immediately click the date and change the mode to all day.
